The Thinker

Comprehensive wealth management is built on the foundation that small changes in your finances can have a large effect on reaching your life goals. But everything begins with those life goals and trying to explicitly determine What is your life calling? and therefore What is the money for?

Perhaps one of the most important parts of wealth management is learning what questions are worth asking. This month, December, 2011, we are focusing on one such question:

What is one of your favorite things that you’ve been able to do with your money?

We are asking this question of several money mavens and getting, not the answers they have seen among their clients, but their own personal answers. Please feel free to respond to any of these posts with your own answer to the question in 150 words or less.

1.) The money I spent to fix up my mom’s 20 y/o bike to ride again, refitting tires, getting spare tubes, buying biking outfit, etc.
2.) Investing in a high-quality camera to aid in my work for a non-profit.

I’ve heard it said “spend money on experiences, not items, because experiences are more highly valued than things.” But I think a more accurate statement would be “Invest money in things that enable you to have affordable/free enjoyable experiences over and over.”
